While searching to resolve a dash squeak i came across thesestuds that had no nuts on them.
I was able to source the correct nuts from a parts Jeep same year. This on my 1998. The picture below is the stud on the passenger side
Far right. It was extremely rusted and I could not get in with a wire brush. So I worked the nut back and forth trying to recut the threads.
All was fine until I got it about 98% on, of course the last twist it twisted right off. Has anyone ever done this, and can it be replaced?
I can access the parts Jeep and obtain a new stud if these are not welded . I’m hoping they are just pressed in.

Or look where it goes through and possibly through bolt it.

To stop most squeeks I usually use buytl tape. Put it where the two parts touch.

I was able to secure 3 out of the 4 and did secure where the squeak was. I may just leave this one alone and deal with it if I ever have to replace the heater core.

...or buy a "studsert" tool to add a stud, but you'll need enough access for a drill and the rivet tool.

When these fail they are miserable. The only time i would be willing to use them would be right before i sold the vehicle...and i am not completely sure i could bring myself to be that big of an azzhat.

As someone who used to shoot paint and beat panels for a living, I've never had an issue with them. But if used in an inappropriate application or improperly installed, I suppose there could be problems.
