Speedometer is still 10 mph too fast. At stop , it's on 0, stopping after driving to a light, it's on 0. I have checked the speedometer housing at the five oclock position and the 34 tooth gear. It's correct and in very good condition. It is not a proportionate error, it is a constant 10 mph too fast vs actual speed. I have reset the gauges with the odometer button press method and tried the battery disconnect-tap,tap,tap method.
I am still 10 mph fast.
I just did the "hold the trip odometer down and turn the ignition on" test again. It is my understanding that the speedometer needle should go to 20, then 55, then 75. Mine went to 30, then 65, then 85. So that's the problem, now how do I fix it?

Was it always like this, or did this happen only after you put on bigger tires?

Always, never changed tires, speedo gear, or diff gear.

So it was like this since you've had it?

I'm only asking because on a past vehicle of mine the previous owner removed the speedometer needle itself which completely threw off the calibration of the speedometer once he reinstalled the needle. I was never able to get it right and ended up having to purchase a new gauge cluster.

Since your speedometer is consistently reading 10 mph fast and the needle seems to be off during the test, it points to a calibration issue rather than a mechanical failure or gear issue.

Here are a few suggestions to help you out:

If your Jeep has any aftermarket tires or gears, they could affect the speedometer's accuracy. Make sure you're using the correct tire size and differential gearing for your speedometer settings.

If you have access to a scan tool that can read your vehicle's speed output, you might be able to calibrate the speedometer directly. Some tools have functions that allow you to adjust the readings.

If re-calibrating doesn’t work, you might consider replacing the speedometer. Sometimes, the internal components can get out of sync, and the only fix is a replacement (this speaks to my issue above)

The vehicle’s speed sensor could also be malfunctioning. Check the connections and the sensor itself to ensure they’re working correctly.

I am having the same issue, were you ever able to get this resolved?
