I might just be wanting do do something for no good reason other than having something to do.

The last time I changed my spark plugs I found lining up the spark plug boots to be a royal pain.

What do you guys think about replacing coil pack on a rail with a coil pack with individual boots?

First, what do you say about the idea, and second if the idea has merit, do you like a certain brand?

Thanks

I looked at this, but am not wedded to this brand specifically.

I did the same thing on my previous XJ and recently on my TJ. I would suggest the K Suspension kit for the TJ. The bracket is also supported at the top and is very sturdy. Someone else posted recently about their RIPP bracket breaking.

I bought the bracket and extension harness from K Suspension. Then I ordered a 2008 Wrangler Blue Streak Coil and 1998 Wrangler NGK wires from Rock Auto. I also installed new NGK copper plugs while I was doing it. It all went together fine and my TJ is running great.

ETA: I'll add that I wasn't expecting more power. I was thinking it will make changing plugs easier in the future. Also, if needed, those coils and plug wires are pretty cheap and easy to change.

Thanks - I'm not looking for more power with this either, just make it easier to change the plugs next time.

If I can trouble you a little, is this the stuff you listed?

K Suspension seems to only sell the kit. Did you call them and ask for the bracket only?

You were close on the K Suspension site. They will sell just the bracket and harness. Same page, but select Viper Mod Basic Kit. Select vehicle, then year, then kit bracket + harness. Should be $61.98. This page. https://www.ksuspensionfab.com/store/p281/Viper_Mod_Basic_Kit_(DIY/parts).html#/

Those are the coil and wires I used. May be a little cheaper on Rock Auto but after shipping may not matter much.

When I installed the bracket I put an extra washer on the bottom bracket bolts so they wouldn't bottom out in the bolt holes.

It all went together pretty easy.

ETA: Make sure you pay attention to the firing order. I used a label gun to mark my coil with the firing order.
