Starting over: A lightweight Rock Crawling Daily Driver

Made the mistake of calculating fuel economy yesterday, with the 33s I got 10.6 mpg, o2 sensors are new ngk, gonna swap the air filter and spark plugs see if that makes a difference, but with how much I drive this is going to get old very fast.

My Hemi does better than that when I can keep my foot out of the floor...

The highest I think I've ever gotten was 11.2 on the drive to Moab (also on 33s)

Daily Driver on 33's.
AX15
4.56's
About 50% highway.. Hard to say exactly
Three years of tracking every fill-up (270 total)
Average 13.8 mpg
Max 16.3 mpg

Have you run a tank through it?

3 or 4 now but the first 2 went FAST from all the WOT runs I did. I filled it before I went out on the shakedown run and we were out there for 6 hours and only stopped once. And I only used less than 1/4 of a tank. I need to get some more drive time with it to get a better idea of what the MPG is. With the Magnum 5.2 & 35" or 38" tires I was getting 15 MPG when I kept my foot off the floorboard. Having a V-8 just makes you want to romp on it now & then.

Tried something a bit different, drove like a grandpa, slow acceleration barely ever going over 2000 rpms, and fuel economy this fill up was 10.2 so successfully did worse than last tank.

Lugging the engine like that isn't efficient either unfortunately. That time I got my max MPGs to Moab I was running around 3500-3800rpm most of the time 😂

Dang, I am at 15.5 to 16.5 regularly. Thats commuting back and forth between Nampa/caldwell and once a week to Garden city.

Went camping this weekend and experienced two things that needs fixing.

1. The swaylock is currently seized in the soft setting. I hit some washboards while it was still in the street setting at very uncomfortable speeds because it transitioned from paved to washboard without any signage and didn’t react fast enough, I switched it to the softer setting right after that event but worried I damaged something in the process.

2. The Jeep threw a p2096 CEL, previous owner installed what appears to be new ntk O2 sensors but the Jeep also at some point got a new pcm that is definitely not a @Wranglerfix pcm.

I’ve got a 2005 X 6-speed w 4.56 gears and 265/75R16 on Moab wheels. 2.5 inch lift and 1” body lift. Front locker. Rear LSD. I don’t much think of it as a rock crawler as Moab was quite challenging. More lift would have been better. Doable but scary. 13 mpg on the highway.

Whaaat you can do everything but pritchett in a setup like that

Pritchet on 32" tires would be a long day

Yeah, didn’t attempt. Top of the World, Fins and Things, Poison Spider, and Hell’s Revenge were enough for me. Did not do Hell’s Gate. But my son did in his Power Wagon on 40’s.

My TJ did them. But she bitched and moaned. 4.56 was quite helpful.
