This is why I hate NSG transmissions

I love the 6 speed manual behind my duramax. When I first bought my tj I had plans to install an nsg. It was disappointing to find out how hard it can be to get a good one. I'd still try one if I could find a low mile upgraded one.

No, you're not. However, my real-world experience with the 6 speed is very limited. Although I've owned my LJ for 3-1/2 years, I've driven it less than 10,000 miles, and it only has about 55k on it right now. I may come to hate it - time will tell.

If you were to pick a transmission that followed the commensurate build philosophy that you are applying to the rest of the rig, that transmission wouldn't even make the top 5 spots for choices.

You have more than enough gearing and enough that any ratio trans will be just fine.

Agreed! Ratio wise—at least in stock form—it really is great. I think the greatness ends there most likely.

I like my NSG-370 and prefer it in alot of my builds, unless an AX-15 is available.

I did find a local reputable builder. I bring him the parts and agrees to install.

Considering Novak is 40 miles from me, it was an option, but I am tired of shifting and I have a 727 out of a grand wagoneer that would be great also, too many changes and I want to drive it.

Is it an NSG370? Is it from High Impact? Did they rebuild the one you sent back or is it a different rebuilt transmission?

I just changed the oil in my NSG370 tonight and it was around 2 quarts. Redline MTL. About $42.
