Upgrading the sound system on your Jeep Wrangler TJ

Reverse image search reveals it's an Alpine RUX-H02. That with the PowerStack checks most of my boxes. It looks like there are more Alpine head units at a decent price than last time I looked.

EDIT: I think I was misunderstanding the PowerStack feature. I thought it just came with built-in pre-amp outputs only, and the PowerStack amp added speaker-level outputs. Anyway... it's another option, if the BT volume knob is reliable.

At least a few of the Alpines do, too.

That volume knob apparently only works with select head units. Getting up there in price on those.

It looks like discontinued/secondary market is the place to go, otherwise.

Kenwoods excelon range have 5v pre outs and up to 4 camera inputs, but volume knobs and dvd players have been discontinued, just not in demand anymore, my DDX9906XR has been operating flawlessly for 5 years. its had one firmware update buy never had any issues with it.

I probably shouldnt have returned to this post but I'm thinking to upgrading to the DMX1057XR now. just need to check if the 10inch screen will the air AC vents on TJ, and if its easy to remove the floating screen when parked.

so the floating screen is pretty adjustable but it seems like there is no quick release for it, could just see some druggy trying to smash and grab the 10inch screen thinking its a ipad they can sell.

You think Sweeney is going to drop some cheap crap off? 🙂
You’re right… she’s a classy chick. Probably wouldn’t leave the house for anything less than a Kenwood.

I am not on board with a floating screen. Never looked the look. Personal preference.

I'm waiting on some polk 552s for the front (already have the select instrument dash-pods) as well as the roll bar, and some poly-fil for the sub box (got a 6.75" kicker going there).

silly question perhaps, but is that polyfil stuff flammable? i noticed the pods come with it, and everyone recommends to fill the sub box with it; it just makes me nervous seeing it in the space up against electrical wires.

yes it burns lol but if your sound system has sparks flying then you got other bigger issues

im not worried about sparks flying around, just worried that the tiniest bit of exposed contact will cause a fire lol.

to hook up the sub, i need to cut those terminal ends off the white/black/red/brown wires and then strip just enough to hook into the quick connect plug, right?

how do i pair them up? red and black are one positive/negative pair on one side, and brown/grey as the other positive/negative pair on the other side?
