2002 TJ sound system upgrade (factory head unit)

I spent about $1300. They have so many options I'd call Rugged Radio. They've got sales going on all the time and lots of clearance items.

When I bought mine I was able to get most things on one of their clearance sales. Brand new stuff at way better prices.

Thanks, that does look like a hot set up with auto music dimming feature.

I would love a set up like this for top off wheeling. The worst part of wheeling without the top is the drive to and from the trail, especially on the way home when you're already tired.

For you guys that have a set up like this, do you feel like you are less fatigued from the lack of wind noise driving longer distances on the highway?

Very much less fatigued. In fact so much that I often wear the headsets on even shorter distances.

The downside is the headset tends to pinch and give me a headache. I've got the behind the neck style and I wonder if over the head would be better. This really is only an issue after 8-10 hours of driving.

Headsweats makes great breathable hats without buttons on top...I love them for sliding under helmets and earpro. Also work great with these Rugged Radio headsets.

Thanks Mac, that definitely sounds like a sweet setup for longer distances.

If you can't hear your music at any speed a louder stereo isn't a solution... it's just contributing to your eventual hearing loss.

Get some good Rugged Radio intercoms. They've got great sound including subs. You can talk with passengers. I can make phone calls at 80 topless down the freeway.
