What did you do to your TJ today?

My Lux kit is still in the mail. I am replacing a cheap Chinesium set installed by the PO. They are positioned well but worthlessly dim. You didn't position any in the wheel wells? Can I ask where exactly you put them? You used the eight light kit?
No I didn't put any in the wheel wells. I felt like the tires would block too much light and no be effective at what they are actually for, seeing the ground around the Jeep.

I used the 8 piece kit. It could be done with 4 on a TJ. I didn't realize how much light they put out.

Got a bunch of LED load resistors headed my way to hopefully fix the random beeping from the dash. Anyone got a link to a decent write up of where the best location is to insert these? I'm thinking on the cabin side of the firewall, but I haven't yet investigated the feasibility of that yet.

Yes it was, down towards @AndyG way they had storms and possibly a tornado.

We just had rain and wind.

My son lives in Marietta. House next door and the one next door to it were both bisected by giant trees coming down. He was unscathed, thank God. Neighborhood is full of 75 to 100 ft tall trees. Not sure why.

Bolted on the winch but not the wiring yet. The holes in the bumper will get some sort of running light in the future and my battery terminals are starting to get a little "rat nesty". Been thinking something like the Jeep Cables.com TJ Big 7 Kit. Is there a better type kit that can be used for the winch cables plus other add-ons that will look good & professional?

Regardless of how you connect it, consider placing a fuse in the hot line near the battery, to protect in case of a front end collision. There are a few write ups on here about fusing the winch.

Be REALLY careful when you drill the holes for the hood support. The thin metal in the underside hood support grabs the drill bit. I was lucky it didn't drill straight through the hood skin, but I do have a nice dimple in the hood that rewards me daily for my stupidity. Use a drill bit collar and make sure it is tight

Thanks for the "heads up". For those who may want this take notice. I completed the install before your warning but was lucky that when the bit hit the hood it was only a light tap... no mark nor dimple. Wiser on the second hole. The support holds the hood up no problem and, all in all, a simple add-on. The instructions suck but the 3 minute u tube video explains the install.

When you open the hood, does it assist in opening it or is it just mainly for holding it in the up position?

The supports are very strong. I would say even with vents installed the hood will open by itself and stay open. I recommend holding & guiding the hood up. If just unlatching the hood and "let her rip" it springs up rather fast & powerful flexing the support bars and the hinges.

I do pay attention to the wind since we live in the mountains . I also have used the hood prop and put a ratchet strap to pull tension down against it.

Good idea. My prop is gone gone... Plastic clip broke and it annoyed me bouncing around

Thank you!!
I may repurpose two of the existing LEDs as courtesy lights under the doors, triggered by opening the doors. I figure my wife would give me a few "good husband" points for that! 😂

Never really got the need to illuminate the tops of the tires. Maybe at full flex?

Did you just splice the leads from each LED pod together and put one hot/ground in the Auxbeam controller or did you opt for the Pro Installer box?

You can still do that. Just pop the clip on each strut and it detaches easily.
This ^^^

You probably will get those points and need them :ROFLMAO:

I've never understood it either. Most that have them in the wheel wells are probably there for the "look" only. There is almost no light that reaches the ground. Same for the ones that are RGB rock lights. What good is a pink light?

I had enough wire (10' per light) on the passenger side and front to get them all to where the AuxBeam controller is (behind the passenger headlight). The driver side and rear I connected the 2 rear lights behind the driver taillight. Then ran them all up to inside the driver fender, connected them all together, and ran 2 wires in a jacket across the firewall to the AuxBeam. <— That was a lot of explanation to just say that I connected them to the AuxBeam
