Off Road Equipment Storage Question

I bought an off-brand full security encloser like the Tuffy unit. Still in the box. Unknown quality.

I like the idea of always having with me at a minimum, my recovery bag.

Do you have a link? I've been considering something like this, but don't want to spend a fortune not knowing if I'll stick with it. Right now I have to accommodate a small sub enclosure in addition to what I'd throw in the security enclosure, and also hoping to leave room for the pup to ride on top.

You were my inspiration for that box!

Cool. I put some nutserts further back so I can fit it behind the seat on the rare occasion that it is installed. That’s usually only when one of my grandaughter's are visiting and wants a ride.

I bought the bestop half-top and ended up building a slide out from 1/2" birch. It's got 500lb full-ext slides mounted to some 1/4 alum broke angles.

Inside are a 1200(?) watt inverter and Avair compressor with three other separate compartments (tools and spare parts, food and tackle, coffeemaker and accessories) with top opening doors. I finished it with flex-seal inside and out, and it floats.

Red leds that turn on for the compartment when you open the lid, two 120 volt receptacles and a few usb power ports.

All the recover gear is is in a compartment behind the tailgate for quick access.

Ah, ok. I was picturing something completely different for some reason. I've considered that one, and while I'd prefer it over other options, our dog would slide right out of the jeep if she was riding on top of it lol. As long as she's still around, I need to find something that rides a little lower in the tub.

As far as pups go, I put an old denim rug on mine. And it's secured with an old short ratchet strap over it.
Although I don't have a Jeep dog, on trail rides I've had a few pups jump on the passenger seat and go directly to the back and stand on the rug/tool box top and just cruise with me. That is until they see a squirrel !!!

We always wanted to keep it light. Carried several soft tool bags - purchased at Home Depot I think. Fluids went in on, recovery in another, drivetrain in one, and electrical/misc in one. They sit low and are easy to strap down through the handles with ratchet straps. Easy to pack around a cooler. Cheap enough to throw away if something tears or leaks.

Seat was always out, tire normally strapped down flat in rear as well to lower the COG.

I keep all of those items, plus my air up/down kit and my first aid kit behind the driver's seat where they can easily be accessed. I also have two fire extinguishers - one within reach of the driver and one at the rear hatch.

I have one of these its a bit $$ but takes up no room, and we all know that space is a premium in a TJ . It never need to be recharged, but it is a one time use, but leaves no mess

Made a plywood base to clear the seat brackets. It’s set up so it fits with the seat folded. Base is held down with rivetnuts to the floor of the jeep and 1/4-20 bolts. Haven’t used it on a trip yet but my plan is to put cooler next to the tool box.

You could have used the seat bracket mounting points to secure it and those tie down points at the rear also come out.
