Tires; form and function

Put big tyres on it, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

Now I need a crane to get old fat behind into my Jeep.

I'm 6' with the legs of a 5'8" and torso of 6'4", so I have more trouble getting into mine than most people would think.

Last weekend my codriver came the day after "leg day". It was amusing to witness.

Thankfully no one has posted video of my short fat arse trying to climb into my Jeep.

Wait, so you're one of those guys who can't fit in most cars with sunroofs? Join the club.

Yep. You'd think an SUV would be ok but even riding passenger in our 4runner is an issue. The driver seat is height adjustable so I have to lower it as soon as I get in.

I had a roommate in college that was 6'5" and we made a thing out of meeting people for the first time sitting down, and then surprising them when we stood up and weren't even close to the same height.

I am 5'6. You got a laugh out of me.

Yep, been fighting it my whole life. Then every time someone suggests a vehicle and I explain why I can't fit they always say something like "My brother fits and he's 6-4" so the point that we're folded in half at a different spot goes right over their heads.
I've mostly driven bigger cars and trucks all my life, especially since most vehicles began coming with sunroofs which I detest anyway, and you can't pick and choose options anymore, it's all packages so if you want say leather instead of cloth you're getting a sunroof.
FYI when I researched cars with lots of headroom there were some surprising results and one was the VW Golf Sportwagen. Since I always wanted a TDI I went and found one, and it was cheap and runs on chump change, over 3X the mileage of the Jeep, handles like a sports car and takes off like a rocket. It's what we use for trips and for parking anywhere without worry, nobody is looking to steal a VW.

The rear spacer is 1", the front spacer is 1.75".

I could move the rear spacer to the front and run no spacer on the rear.

For a 1.5 year time frame, I would install steps. They'll come in handy when you go larger too.

After that, choose tire size based on where and how you intend to wheel while on your RV adventures and build around that. Since you have an AT, depending on how large you go, you will want to regear. That's plenty of time for us to help you spend your money J.E.E.P. style. ;)
