Jeep broken down, help! - FIXED!

Don't know that I've see that problem before. If it will go to the point where all the lights come on and then past that to the momentary start position I would say it's good.

Yep, I think so too. So just the Ignition Actuator Pin.

I just found that my spare car (Subaru Impreza WR1) which has been off the road for a while, won't start either & needs the fuel drained & a new battery. I'm not having a good week. :(

Just curious if that is a typo on the subaru (wrx), or is the wr1 yet another car we don't get here in the states? And how long has it been non used? If you open the gas cap and it still smells like gas, don't bother draining it, just use it. Gas last longer than most ppl think when sealed into a dark gas tank not exposed.

The WR1 is a 500 car special edition made to celebrate Petter Solberg winning the WRC in 2003. They all were in a special colour Ice Blue & took the STi & handed it to Prodrive to add their magic. Power is 320bhp, 0-60 in 4.25 secs. The best thing for me about the car is the stunning gearing with a gorgeous 3rd gear. Prodrive designed the car for UK roads, not for the track & it really is a great car for day to day use.

I checked my records & I've not driven it for 9 years. Which makes the fuel a bit old?

Any obd codes?

I now have my Jeep back on my drive - still not working, but at least I've got it back from the useless garage workshop. The battery in now on charge after the hood being left open to the show. I have an Ignition Actuator pin on order. I tried the OBD codes, but just got a "done" in the window with no code before that.

9 year old fuel? if that's the case and you've tried the start it using 9 year old fuel you have an even bigger problem now. Tell me you don't have ethanol in your fuel. That's even worse. Your injectors and whole fuel system will be clogged with green gel that was once your fuel.

So I am just going to throw out my two cents... have you check ALL wiring from starter to battery and the grounds. and the relays in the fuse box under the hood.

Not ethanol, it was super unleaded. There was not enough battery to turn the engine, but I assume that the injectors got primed. I think I'll have to get it trailered to the Subaru dealer & get the fuel pumped out. :(

The garage is supposed to have done that, but I have a guy coming to help at the end of the week. I don't have the kit to do that myself.

If you truly ran 9 year old fuel through it then that's your issue. You couldn't wash your cat with 9 year old fuel let alone start a campfire or a car.

Ok I don't want to upset, I just know that once too many hands get involved the smallest/simplest things get overlooked.

Agreed, the guy coming is going to check the electrics. I'll encourage him to start from scratch & ignore everything which may or may not have been done. I need to get this fix, as far as that garage was concerned, the Jeep was scrap.

The issue is I live on a small Island with a population of 70k. There is little choice when it comes to suppliers & quality of service is usually between poor to incompetent. The garage I called out assumed it was battery, then assumed starter motor, the told me it was the immobiliser. It was at that point I found & joined this forum to try to get some intelligent advice - which I've received in buckets! I've just today managed to get my Jeep back from the garage, so will start again with the help of a local guy I know who's more old-school. So currently, I'm charging the battery & the guy is coming down once I have the ignition actuator pin. I've never used the local guy because I didn't know he did car stuff - he doesn't advertise. So my thoughts are to let him fit the ignition actuator or if he's going to be late coming, I'll fit it. Then if that doesn't work, he can start diagnosing. If he can't fix it, I'm really stuck as it's not viable to get my Jeep to a UK dealer.

Well, if your post is genuine, then I need to tell you there is literally no point in proceeding until you drain the fuel from the gas tank and clean your fuel system. That needs to be step #1.

After that's done and you have fresh fuel, your jeep will most likely turn on. Then you can return all the stuff you bought.

The symptoms - with a charged battery are this. Foot on clutch, key to position 1, all dash lights on, key to position 2, no starter sound, no click, engine doesn't turn, lights do not dim.
