Recently I’ve been having some trouble with my Jeep
In may I replaced the clutch due to already having the trans on an unrelated issue
I put a duralast (autozone brand) because that’s what I could get at the time
I’m starting to think that was a big mistake
At the time knowing the the flywheel was convex I decided to lightly sand and install the clutch, mind you the flywheel looked very good, I’ve done some clutches where they were in rough shape and this wasn’t one of them
I think I saw one or 2 hot spots total
Either way ive driven about 7000mi on this clutch and I was driving back to school yesterday about a 3 hr drive for me, it would slip all over the place, super frustrating, I got it Home and I drove it the next day and I had no problems drove great like it did all summer I’m at a loss, I just did a 1.25 body lift right before i left because I’m planning a tummy tuck in the future but idk how that could cause the clutch to slip
Which is leading me to believe it has to do with heat which is exposing a problem in the clutch assembly and it gets worse the hotter it gets
I’m thinking the clutch will have to be done again but with a Luk clutch but any advice is welcome
Update
Brand new Luk clutch, pressure plate and flywheel
Given it only has 100 mi on the new clutch I’ve never had this problem with any other clutches I’ve done
But it’s still slipping, not constantly every so often if you let it cool down or if you can get it to stop slipping it works fine for a while
I have a very small rear main leak but I can’t see how that would be even able to effect clutch
I’m in school and I really don’t have the time for this to be a problem
