Have fun sledding tomorrow. Should be a blast now that the Jeep is fixed.
Way to stick to it and figure it all out. Enjoy the snow ❄

Thanks, I hear you’ve got snow in your side too!

You’re build is amazing. That exhaust looks like it’s going to turn out! You get so many posts over there I have to set aside 30 minutes every few days to catch up!

I'll try to slow down so you don't have so much to be reading and catching up on.

Yep we've got snow. And what is this my side shit? I'm a eastern WA living fool too, I only got to the wetside when I have to but stay away the rest of the time.

i give you credit, puttin up with chasin all the ends out and doing it quick too. i would have taken 3 months to procrastinate through all that and you knocked it out quick 1 after another ................. great job.
I wish Adams hadn’t sent me on a wild goose chase, but I guess I found a couple of other things to correct that will save me in the future. I really needed to get it done before mid-January since my workload increases then. Thanks for the encouragement! Now I’m looking at correcting the exhaust. I think if I get a muffler that’s about 6” shorter I can correct the problem it’s creating for the axle tube on the passenger side. I still have to reconnect the e-locker, which should be pretty easy.

You’re 3 hours closer than me! 😉

AND???? I'm still on the east side of the Cascades which makes me part of the better side of WA now.

Yes as frustrating as it was you did find other things that would have needed to be corrected. That bearing in the tail housing of the t-case could have just locked up on you or taken out parts so it was a good thing to find it now.

What is the diameter of your exhaust pipe? And size of your current muffler? I just got done looking at tons of them so I might be able to help.

Does the wiring plug into the locker itself or is it wired into the locker?

Your definitely on the better thinking, same side of WA. Your actually in a really cool area to access the great things in WA. All you’re missing is ID.

I’m going to measure this morning, but I think the diameter is 2.5” and the muffler is 19+ in long. I’ll take real measurements and pics when I crawl under to wire the locker.

The wiring on the locker looks like this. Inside is fine, it’s outside the diff housing where I need to correct the connector I cut off.

I’m really happy you figured this out :) I think a bunch of folks here could feel your stress. Bummed that Adams led you astray. It would be nice if you could count on the pros more. One of many lessons in this saga. So what did you find inside those DC u-joints? Anything obvious like dry/rusty or broken needle bearings? Also how old were they?

I wish I had seen this sooner. You have two good driveline shops there in Spokane you could have had take a look at it for you.

I should have asked around. What driveline shops do you recommend? I looked one up once. Can’t remember the name.

My original plan was just to rebuild it. It only takes a couple hours. Adams insisted I send it back. The only good that came out of it is they replaced the pinion end ujoint and didn’t charge me. I had a good opinion of them for about 3 weeks.

I didn’t see anything obvious. I thought about taking pics and looking closer, but I was just trying to finish yesterday so I could take my beautiful wife out on a date in the jeep! I may take a closer look here in the next couple days and report back if I find something.

One thing that I thought was odd is that there is no dust shield for where the centering ball is located. This just seems to open it up to the environment and be asking for trouble. I don’t know how Tom Wood does his driveshaft and if they have a dust shield or not, but I know that our front driveshaft does have a dust shield at the double cardan.

Did you get it up to speed to see if your harmonic is cured as well? I'll be revisiting my Adams rear DS.
No, we have snow and ice everywhere. There’s literally not one road I would feel comfortable going over 45 on. 90 may be clear, but I’m not heading that way anytime soon. It looks like snow and ice is here to stay for quite a while. I will be very interested to see if this solves the harmonics as well. I guess it is possible that it was going out gradually overtime and just got worse about 6 to 8 weeks ago.

You have Merles and Six States.

If they are using a greasable centering flange the standard pin yoke for them has just a small tin shield compared to the rubber boot on non greaseable flange. Keeping the ball greased is the standard defense against contamination.
