I have a hard copy FSM set for my 2000 TJ which have a lot of info, diagrams and etc. When I worked at a dealership the mechanics had access to a troubleshooting tree which was a printed process of sorting out problems especially electrical. I see that there are "Diagnostic guides" available that maybe what I'm looking for. I'm guessing the "Body" would be what I need, correct? Thank you.

The only wiring diagrams I am aware of are the ones found in the FSM.

Dumb question then. What is a "Body Diagnostic Guide" used for? Please excuse my ignorance but how do you learn w/o asking questions. Thank you.

A "Body Diagnostic Guide" is a useful tool that helps technicians troubleshoot problems related to the vehicle's body systems, which include things like power windows, locks, lighting, and other electronic components integrated into the body of the vehicle.

Typically, these guides provide step-by-step diagnostic procedures that can help you isolate and identify issues in these systems. They often include flowcharts, common problem descriptions, and specific tests to perform to pinpoint electrical faults. Since you’re working on a 2000 TJ, the Body Diagnostic Guide would indeed be a valuable resource alongside your FSM. It can help streamline the troubleshooting process, making it easier to address any electrical problems you encounter. If you can access one of these guides, it could greatly enhance your ability to tackle whatever issues come up.

Got that from the Internet since I wasn’t quite sure myself.

Thank you Chris for clearing that up for me. It's hard to get that info from sellers on eBay, etc. Thank you again.

Seeing as there are no modules in the body of tj’s like the cars they build these days what would be in a “body diagnostic guide”?

Use the FSM to research the operation of whatever circuit you have issues with. You must understand how the circuit was intended to operate before you can diagnose. Section 8W for the wiring diagrams once you understand the theory and operation of said circuit.
