Yep. Another effing blower motor post. I'm as frustrated as y'all.

2005 4.0

I'll try to make this quick.
Previously no fan speed 1 and 2, but 3 and 4.
Bought new controls, no help. Lived with just 3 and 4.

Now only have speed 4. Re-read forums. Conclusion, change blower motor resistor.
Look it up in that dreaded 1600 page service manual... that I apparently need a PhD in schematics to understand... and decide to just order the part... and in classic Jeep fashion, there are 2 different to choose from.

So, my loyal teachers... which is it or do I require both? (See pics)

Thank you again!

Signed,
Old, tired and (almost) fed-up mom that just wants to go fishing!

I have not contorted myself under the dash or behind the glove box yet to pull the old part, but when I went to change the controls months ago, nothing was melted or looked 'off''. This is my daily.

I used the flat card one when I lost my heater fan speed selections. All I had was high and off, which still blew a little bit. I didn't have fan speed positions 2 and 3.

The flat one is what you need (02-06'). I bought a Four Seasons brand one over 6 years ago. Cost me $15 Pre-Bidenomics. Takes less than 10 minutes. 🤫

Thank you, Sir. I always appreciate your advice.
If I may... Is it difficult to swap out? I have a severe lower back injury and not looking forward to the lovely positions I end up in trying to fix this damn old thing which I keep having to remind myself that alI love!

I know there was a pretty detailed thread on here about how to do it in the past.

No. I have arthritis in my spine and degenerative disc disease, and it took less than 10 minutes.

Tears, bulges, pinched nerves, sciatic down both legs, arthritis... I can completely commiserate with you and I'm sorry you suffer, as well. But you are my hero at the moment... 10 mins. Thank you! 💙
