If I want to run 35's, what setup would you recommend for a 1998 4.0, 5 speed Sport with an AX15/5 Speed manual transmission?

All you need to successfully run 35's without problem is a Dana 44 in the rear and the factory Dana 30 up front. If you have a Dana 35 in the rear, all you'll need is to install a Super 35 kit from Revolution Gear & Axle which is more than up to 35's, a locker, and very (!) tough trails.

I have Dana 44's front and back
from a 2006 Rubicon. Disc brakes front and back. 4.10 gear ratio with 33 inch KO2s
Maybe I'm over doing it?

Sorry to hear about the wife. You will be a little under geared with the 4.10's. With 33's they will do the job. Once you step up to the 35's you might want to start looking at 4.88's. Good luck.

Yep. Since my wife passed I'm a little out of it. Thanks for the feedback though
Sorry to hear of your wife’s passing, it seems you are most of the way there already. Better brakes and a gear ratio change would be my focus.

Edit: Providing you have enough lift for proper tire clearance.

With what you already have installed in your Jeep all you’ll need to do is upgrade your brakes. BM pads and rotors would more than do the trick for 35s. If you’re really itching to spend money you can upgrade your axle shafts. Depends on how/where you wheel honestly…

I have a 4" Suspension Lift and I" body lift
