Does anyone have an overview of what the engine compartment is SUPPOSED to look like?? When we purchased the ‘97 Wrangler for our son, there had been a lot of rewiring and alternate wiring for cooling fan, lights, subwoofer, etc and there is currently NO fan shroud and we must control the cooling fan by a toggle switch on the dash (which I do not particularly care for)! I am wanting to recondition this jeep back to original as much as possible prior to making any big mods (lift kit, interior LED’s, exterior LED’s, etc

I don’t like the sound of that -

Rig in pic has a good top, sliders, so I assume that is it-

My rigs are later model- 05 and 04, you need a 97 image and likely a lot of parts…..

Davey’s Jeeps will be a good resource possibly-

Do we have any Kansas members that might can hook him up @Chris …..he needs ‘97 sitting beside his, and the ability to steal parts when they aren’t looking.

Pick someone Christian so they have to forgive him.

Here's the FSM's As AndyG said post up some pictures...

These are both pics of something newer than '98.
I thought it was already well understood that the first requirement of owning a Jeep was the inability to read and if you can muddle through that, then comprehension is severely lacking. The only part I'm confused by is how you can tell on the 98? 97 is the only year I've seen with the round charcoal canister on the fender, so the red one is 98-02 based on that. The silver one is 03-04 since the emissions is in the rear corner and it has the 3 connector PCM.

If you dig around on here, some nice person has a thread going on the oddities of the 97. He has been pretty good about keeping it updated.

Intake manifold style and a/c compressor placement.

Swoopy style intake started in '99 IIRC. I know for a fact '98s had the a/c compressor where the alternator is in those pics and I'm fairly certain '97s were the same.

I think we are confusing ourselves by not being specific. The last pics of the 97 with the aftermarket AC have the AC over on the right side at the top of the motor which is where my 97 and 99 have it. I believe that was true until 2000 when they swapped places with alternator and compressor and moved the compressor over to the left side under the power steering pump.
