So, finally got to taking the TCase apart to replace the output shaft that got bent back in August.
The rear driveshaft on my '97 TJ came off at highway speed, which bent the shaft.
Upon taking the unit apart today, I find this. The inside of the tailshaft housing that the bearing rests against is broken out.
Anyone ever see this before?
Was it caused by the side load on the bearing, the same load that bent the shaft?
Or did I break it during disassembly?
I will freely admit to doing stupid shit, but I would think it would've made noise when it broke.
I have a TCase out of an XJ sitting here but it's was mated to an automatic. I haven't looked but I assume the input shafts are different so swapping would not work.
My current "plan" is to rob the tailshaft housing off the other case to get this one going.
Thoughts?
Anyone have an extra housing laying around?
