Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ radiator

What did you do to your TJ today?

Hooked up my CB antenna and tuned it. Still not sure where I want to mount the handset on the inside. PO said "the cb wiring is there but it must have a short, could never get it to work". Turns out the antenna bracket wasn't grounded is all. 30 seconds of sanding and it's good to go.

I have my Tom woods driveshaft and sye on the shelf ready to get put in too. With this wumonia hysteria this might be a good time to hunker down in the garage and figure it out. Was hoping to find a new front axle housing and get the swapped at the same time but can't find one. Regardless, work is dead (construction/service) right now, might as well work on something.

"Honey I HAD to get the 44, no one has a 30 for sale" 😉

The sye is pretty straightforward and can be done in the jeep or out. Depending on your jeeps mileage you might want to replace your drive chain and check the shift fork pads for wear. And make sure to replace the front output seal. Overall, a great way to spend a day. Enjoy

Almost forgot. You'll need a heavy duty snap ring pliers.

Took the wheels off to install shorter valve stems, ones on there went past the rim. Decided to have a peek at the rear brakes. Both drums were cracked inside, so an easy decision to replace everything. Fresh stoppers all around

I haven't replaced drums. I'm surprised those are so shiny. Is that how they all come? What kind of fenders are those? They look good!

Unfortunately they wont stay that shiny for long, will end up crusty and rusty like most of them. Unless I paint them.

Im not sure what front fenders are on there, they were on the Jeep when I bought it last fall. But from seeing many other TJs, they are fairly common. The rear "fender" is an EAG brand, very stout, easy to install, I would recommend. They make a similar front fender as well, and rock sliders (which I will add soon) I have their rear bumper too

Duuuuuude...those old ones are toast!!!
Yeah man, they were definitely fubar'd !! Kind of the theme for this Jeep. Everything seems to be fine, then I take it apart and find otherwise. Runs and drives great now, as Ive replaced a lot of "maintenance" things that were neglected

It should be ready for its first trip to Moab next week

Took a quick look at the back of the hard top for possible water intrusion spots. I guess we'll start with the obvious first and go from there.

Passenger side looks ok, but is loose and looks to have no foam gasket on the backside where foam should be. Driver side, well, omg. Doesn't matter that it is loose and no foam like the passenger side. The rubber flap piece is just gone. Lol.

Somebody put your steering wheel on the wrong side !!
Ahhh yes of course, thanks for that ...I was sitting on the left hand side and thought something was missing but could work out what it was … lol

I received some Rancho 5000s. I have no idea what was on there...I think some Rough Country from 2008. All I know is that they are too short in that I can move the shock with my hand. I also ordered a few things from Tasca. If we go on admin leave soon, I'll have time to install.

So I have been laid up recovering from a traumatic shoulder replacement for the last 7 months, unable to complete the suspension upgrades to my 2005 LJ Rubicon. However, last week I was able to complete my lift upgrade by myself. I did have to sawzall the frame mounted rear track bar bolt as it was frozen inside the sleeve, that was PITA. Right now, I am running Metalcloak dual adjustable aluminum control arms, Metalcloak front and rear adj track bars, OME 2939 front springs, 2946 rear springs, both 4" and Bilstein shocks from a JK which while on paper are similar in collapsed and extended length, give the worst ride imaginable. So I just bit the bullet and ordered some Fox 2.0 Adjustable Reservoir shocks for 4 corners.

I haven't done a body mount lift (or motor mount) yet, but I have a completely new set of stock height body mounts to install as mine have essentially evaporated to dust as they are most likely original. I also installed the very expensive )($100) Synergy grab handles which are nicer than anything else I've seen and was sold on them after having something similar in my JK's. I also installed 10.5" rear sway bar links, but haven't gotten anything for the front as I can't decide whether to spend $150 on quick disconnect links or $500 for AntiRock. And I have to figure out what to do with the front steering, Currie Correctlync or just upgrade tie rod or wait until I break something. Which I am sure I will because though I am running 265/75/16 right now and will go 295/75/16 (prob BFG All Terrains) if I stay with my stock Rubicon wheels.

Hopefully this weekend, I am going to mount my ARB compressor, eBay 6 switch panel both under the hood, and another set of lights. Next weeks activity will be to mount the Fox Reservoir shocks when they come in but I have to do some research on the best way to offboard the reservoir. Perhaps people have ideas on how to best accomplish this. My soft top has a lot of old age tears butI have another used one in good shape that I need to swap, so there's that to do as well.

Oh and now I'm hearing some weird sounds that make me think at least one wheel hub bearing is bad. JEEP!

First off, congrats on your recovery. Sounds like you have some pent up need for jeep wrenching. Second, I would recommend losing the shock boots. They are collectors of moisture and dirt which will promote corrosion. Third, I see an old cj in the background there. Do you still run it on the trails?
