What did you do to your TJ today?

Changed my speedometer gear housing O-ring. This thing has been dripping ATF like crazy ever since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I finally pressure washed everything underneath so I could get a better idea where the fluid was coming from. It looked pretty certain that the speedometer gear housing was the culprit. Sure enough, one O-ring later and things are staying nice and dry. Amazing that one silly O-ring can leak so much fluid. But even MORE amazing is just how much some vendors charge for these! I was lucky enough to find one under $2.00. But I saw them mostly around $8.00 and all the way up to nearly $20.00!!!

Here’s what I took off:

I’ve never been happy with the fit of mine. Which did you use / link?

Got to get the state inspection done in a couple weeks. Checked the sheet from last years inspection. Only driven it 450 miles. I used to drive it that much a week. :(

But think of the savings in gas costs.

Drove to see a million dollar home I used to deliver food to. Owners were away in Spain, got an alert on their phone yesterday about gas in the house. Instead of calling 911, they called a neighborhood friend to see if she could check it out. She brought a guy she knew, to help. FD said the house exploded when she opened the front door. She was blown to pieces and the man was badly injured (lost arm and leg). Makes me feel really lucky about leaving the gas on for hours the other day and my wife coming home to smell it.

Just this minute saw this on the national news. They did not report any detail on those two people. Thanks for that, Boog. Very sad.

A friend of my wife works for the FD and was on the scene. It screwed him up pretty bad seeing the condition of the two people.

Do you have a link to the news story?

Moral of the story for all of you is shut off the power and gas from outside if you safely can and gtfo!

What are these for? Came in the box with my savvy skid plate

Those are 1/8” spacers that go between the skid plate and frame. They are needed because when you use the C bracket it creates a gap between the skid plate and frame in front of and behind the C bracket. Take a little RTV and slap it on the top side and put them on the frame around the nutsert, of course. Then, when you put the skid on, you won’t have the trouble of trying to slide them in there.

You'll be the receiver of my frustration on how far beyond I am on my build - F' you doorless and topless riders!

Otherwise - Jeep looks great! Enjoy the summer driving brother!! ;)

Man get it knocked out - join the fun.

I have been there- jeep in pieces and the parade is going by without me.

Do a build you love, the joy comes later- every time you see it or drive it. You will get there man.

This forum inspired and motivated me over the years.
