What did you do to your TJ today?

Can’t figure out the source of a sound similar to a chain running loose, or something rattling around loose. Came off the trails Saturday and sound increased with mph, but engine rpm doesn’t matter, if the wheels and drive train are rolling the sound is apparent about 15-20 mph so dont know when it started but had to be during the ride. In gear, out of gear, 2wd, sounds a little different in 4wd but still there. I crawled around, looked around, but had no time to start jacking it up and trying things before work so dropped it off at my favorite ‘we fix jeeps’… will share what the damage is…

A bunch of stuff! I recently finished build 2.0 on my TJ.

One of these days I will get around to a build thread for the first build and build 2.0 :).

Transfer case chain noise?

Picked mine up this morning from DriveLine & Gear Service.
For awhile it's been making some bad noises. Turns out the throw out bearing was toast. Figured I would have the whole clutch replaced while it was cracked open.
At 71 I have no desire to crawl around under a vehicle so I let them do it.
Much quieter and smoother now.
Old bearing pic.

A few more baby steps. Replaced all of my beat up and corroded spline-drive lug nuts with new standard hex nuts. Replaced my interior lights with LEDs. Replaced my gouged roller fairlead with a more synthetic-friendly smooth fairlead.

Double check the inside lip of the winch plate where the fairlead mounts. Some need clearancing when moving from rollers, so they don’t rub on the line.

AND, will be looking for another with automatic transmission.

Completely off-topic, but noteworthy. A few years ago when I had to sell my JK I made a similar, “Gone for now but coming back” post on the JK forum where I’d been quite active.. The responses were ridiculously snobbish. Enough so that when I started looking to finally get into another Jeep I knew I’d not be checking back into the JK Forum. I’m happy to NOT see you getting that treatment here. Apparently the TJ folks are of better breeding.

After 3 months I took my new rock sliders I got from @Fluxor out of the box and put blue tape on them. Progress! At this rate, only a few more fortnights and I should have them done. Man, life has gotten busy. Haven't even driven the Jeep for like 3 weeks.

I'm a Jeep snob when I pass a JK with a dash full of ducks. I pretend I don't see them. 🤫
