What did you do to your TJ today?

Obsessed by fishing lately- its my valium. Went tonight in the LJR.

This is the awesome TVA Guntersville Dam.

3980’ wide, 92’ tall. Built in 1935-39.

The lake it created is known as one of the best bass lakes in the United States. And it is better than it is known to be, but only the locals know that.

The lower side is Wheeler Lake but considered the Tennessee River again until you reach the actual lake.

It is an amazing fishery- saltwater striped bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, bluegill, white bass, southern walleye, walleye, sauger, catfish of every species, sturgeon occasionally, drum, carp, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, redeye bass, skipjack, gar and lord knows what else.

The first obstacle to fishing here for me years ago was getting the confidence fish could be in this heavy current.

Sauger are just getting started.

This crazy fish below blew my mind- he ran and ran, jumped like a small mouth, just went crazy- then weirdly got real easy to reel and then fought like crazy......I was thrilled thinking it was a smallmouth....

got him in, I had tail hooked the sucker. Drum.

Took Ruby up to Georgetown, and Wentworth Springs Campground. Pushed Ruby to 120,000 miles and had a a blast while doing it. Then we came across a poor soul and in his own words “I came in hot”. He ran right into a tree with his JKU he’s only had about 6 weeks. Ripped off the driver fender, busted the pitman arm, both LCA where busted off the axle. We ended up towing him out backwards and at times had to tether the front of his jeep to another jeep to try and keep it straight. I am not sure what he would have done if we didn’t hadn’t come along.

Installed H & R Springs 1" lift. It was quite a job for this 72 yr old man. My son helped me with getting the rear upper track bar hole lined up. Had to use a ratchet strap and many cuss words..View attachment 583283View attachment 583284. Many thanks to fuse's thread "Stock Spring Swap Walk-Thru with pics".

I have this same setup (H&R springs, Fox shocks) and love it.

I got my oil test results back from Blackstone Labs. How would you remedy this stuff? My engine only has 75k on it and seems that there is some unusually high wear & tear for an engine with such low miles. The Jeep runs fine.

Finally getting back to some more Jeep stuff. I’ve had this head sitting around since my last rebuild so I figured I’d go over it while it’s cold outside and I’m bored inside. I took the lifters apart and cleaned them and inspected them last week, so tonight I started working on lapping the old valves and cleaning up the head. Maybe when spring hits I’ll try to get this engine reassembled with some fresh pistons and bearings. I need to measure the cylinders so I can determine if it needs to go to the machine shop or not but everything looked good when I tore it apart.
I would have ported the head at that point since its out for awhile.

Wanted to self report a violation of the Forum rules while installing a BMB body lift...grill needed a jump to the right to get the bolt lined up and all of my heavier friends I lean on for these adjustments weren't available.

MML next. And since I mostly unbolted the bumper...frame reinforcement brackets were in the way of the rear bolts...might as well finish taking it off, cut off the mounts and adjust them.
