What did you do to / in your garage / shop today?

With the amount of screws and glue I used, racking doesn't appear to be an issue. But I do have 2, 11"x8' plywood pieces available that I could screw to the backside to help.

It’s sturdy. Mine haven’t wobbled at all in the 20-ish years I’ve had them. The only thing I regret was not making sure a gallon can of paint would fit under it before building them. They were just barely too tall to slide under. A couple 2x4 spacers under each leg solved that though.

Here’s mine. 3/4” A/C 3’x6.5’ top. I used the cut offs to beef up the edges for clamping. 6” 5/8” skirt with 2X6 stringers underneath top. Legs are 2 2X4s. Bottom shelf is 2X4s covered with 1/2” plywood. Glue and screwed. Top was screwed until glue set then removed and filled. Solid as can be with ZERO movement. Multiple coats of oil base spar varnish.
20+ yrs of pounding, burning and assorted mayhem and its held up great. I don’t move it other than sliding it around. I have a forklift if I ever need to move it around the shop.

I inherited a 6x3 bench built with 2x6 and carriage bolts. Very stout but racked terrible till I added some plywood gussets. Then I got tired of getting wood slivers under my fingernails when picking stuff up and from small parts getting caught in between the 2x6 top so I covered it with some stainless steel that I got free. Solid now. For my welding table I used 3/8" plate 4x5 and 1/4" angle. The castors are solid 8". I think it weighs somewhere between 400 and 500 lbs, the top alone is 300 lbs. It takes a bit of a grunt to get all the castors moving in the same direction but fortunately I rarely move it. Got pics somewhere.

BTW @bucky my work surfaces look like yours, catch alls. I try to keep them cleared but stuff just keeps piling up, especially when you have a dozen projects going on at once. Sometimes I'll take a whole day just organizing.

Pitchers?

Pitchers?

I'm kind of embarrassed at the mess but with everything going on right now I'm overloaded, plus sorting through stuff from 2 vehicles I sold and additions to the new one almost daily right now. The wood bench is actually 2x8s. I put the stainless on it and a back splash to keep stuff from falling off the back.

Once I finish making the ARB mounting bracket for my new Ranger I'll be cleaning up this mess.

Yeah, sometimes it's more of a pain in the butt than it's worth.

The question is why did it all of a sudden happen when I didn't change anything? I'm guessing Cloudflare changed something on their end.

I've never really had a problem with CloudFlare - but my website is a lot simpler than forum software is. Its the best thing I ever did to my site.

Yep, the bigger the site the more challenging it can become to manage. That's one area where ChatGPT has been really helpful. It's like having a super smart IT guy right next to me and it knows exactly what I need to do to fix it. In this case I had to add a new rule.

I decided to try Google's AI, and asked it about "Zorba, the Veiled Male". What it spit back was fairly accurate, but it also claimed I was on facebook!! I told it I wasn't, and it apologized... :D
