I had one of my beehives at the shop swarm tonite. They bivouacked 10’ up in a pecan tree. I cut the branch and put them in a new hive. It’s a small swarm but if they survive more honey next year for me.

Yes but usually in the spring. Here in SoCal they can do it anytime of the year if it’s warm enough. These swarmed because their hive was too small for the amount of bees in the too small hive. I’ve been traveling and have not checked them for over a month and missed adding suppers.
When they swarm the queen takes the older bees with her. About 1/2 the hive. The remaining bees will make a new queen after the old queen leaves. It’s impressive to see the process and luckily I notice a shit ton of bees flying around the shop. After they leave they ball up usually on a nearby tree branch and send out scouts to find a new home. This can take a day or two. When they do find a new home they will all fly off with the queen. When they swarm they gorge themselves with honey so they have a supply to feed on and make new comb in the new hive. While it looks scary to most people, they are docile because of the gorged honey and they have no hive to protect. I usually don’t even suit up when collecting a swarm. I’m listed with the county for live bee removal and get several calls a year to come out for swarms.
I sold my bee operation 3+ yrs ago and just keep a few hives at the shop to play with and collect some honey. All my current hives are swarms I’ve collected around town. There are at least 6 commercial bee operations within 3 miles of my shop. 3 being in-laws.
Have about 1/2 day left and should be done.

To think you're ever done - garage guy can't call a spice cabinet organized and done....
Seriously - I'm super envious of your garage size and setup!! Tool chest must be amazing - looks huge but I'm sure you're filling it up.
An under-rated area of any garage - the chairs and a spot to think & contemplate. Use my rolling garage stool as my own many times to step back - even better when you have a spot for a friend to sit with and decide a new approach on thus-far failed attempts on a project.
It really is looking organized and a great place to work on any vehicle - you know, like a Jeep. **cough cough**
Thanks. We put a bunch of stuff out in the yard for sale.
Small tractor belly mower
100 gallon propane tank.
Snap On gas compressor (with no tank)
2001 F150 .....
Then in the shop we have a Craftsman radial arm saw
A table saw
Router and table
2 100 pound propane tanks.
So once all that mess is gone,it will be nice.
Chairs are for my dad, and myself I guess, I just never sit down when I'm in the shop.

My shop will never look that organized. Too much shit collected over the years and ADD. I try to organize things but within days it’s back to disorganized again.

Please consider getting a lift. You would never regret it.
Oldest daughter brought me this today.
Next Saturday I am supposed to be doing front pads and rotors on her Nissan armada.
