Helping a friend with an instrument cluster issue on a 97. Finally got power to instrument panel connector and all gauges working, but now have constant warning chime as soon as I replace instrument cluster even with key out and door closed. Chime goes away when engine starts. Not sure why chime would be energized with key out and door closed. Looking for ideas.

Does the door switch work? I know when my lights are on and I open the door with the engine off and the key out the chime goes off
Difficult to say for certain. PO had done a lot of sketchy wiring mods and don't have any interior top light anyway. Pulled fuse on door switch disable but still have power to chime as soon as instrument cluster is connected. All lights off, doors closed, key out. ??
