Turbo Kit Test TJ

That was over a week ago.

Hurry Up Waiting GIF by Robert E Blackmon

Almost a year later, any word on early year TJs getting a kit for them? I’m on the fence with turbo charging vs supercharging. I’ve found a few reputable kits for supercharging but with gas prices I sure would like to have a turbo and not make 6 MPGs with a supercharger haha.

To which supercharger kits are you referring?

Also, I don’t think there is much difference in fuel mileage in a well tuned supercharger vs. a turbo. I ran a Kenne Bell for years and always got a bit over 10.

Someone correct me if that is a bad supposition on the turbo setup.

I was taught in school that a turbo is more efficient than a supercharger.

Supercharger is parasitic.

Use the boost or not and a supercharger still costs you fuel.modern superchargers have bypass systems to make the drag less when out of boost though.

With a turbo you need to be in the boost to have a significant penalty. If you have the boost most people will use it though. So either way your mileage is going to take a hit!

Not likely to happen from me. The later kits have sold okay, but investing in the earlier models where the production numbers were half wouldn't make sense.

Jezzas turbo kit?

Thanks for the link, I read most the way then scrolled to end but didn't go back far enough obviously!

There have been a few kits sold and the forum members who purchased the kits have been happy. So know that you're getting a quality kit if you purchase one. And if you do please make sure to start a build thread and keep us all updated so we can follow along.

Thanks mate, read through entire thread. Lots of praise for quality, client after sale service etc BUT im yet to see any pics, video or dyno results. If I'm missed it sorry. However I'm very interested as I had planned a hemi build but the $25K cost engineering and fitments which included dana 60 rear end doesn't work for me ( I have a 6.1L sitting on a frame out of my SRT8 300C wanting to go into something!!) I've seen sprintex applications and they are good, I've had supercharged and turbo before, also have a modded 2004 mini Cooper S with 305bhp and an almighty supercharger wine, based on what I'm researching/learning turbo kit might be just the performance upgrade needed to turn what I think is already a weapon (My TJ) into something purely scary but fun to wheel!!

I know things can be expensive down under but why $25K for a Hemi swap? I'm in the middle of doing one in my TJ right now and ain't close to that amount.

Just found them!!

You can also reach out to Jezza and ask him questions. You can't PM him until you have 25 posts or become a supporting member but he's pretty good about replying if you tag him in a post.

Cheers.
