Happy Easter Everyone!

After fighting to remove my gas tank.
Trying to replace the fuel pump.
Removed the old pump, but for some reason, I can't seem get the ring to thread to thread back on straight!
I know you need to push down on the pump, as you start threading on the ring.
It just looks I'm cross-threading it.
Why is this so difficult?

Thanks

They'll fight you sometimes.

Make sure everything is clean Make sure the rubber gasket is clean and seated. A little lubrication can help. Firm downward pressure helps...try turning it backwards to get it lined up and then try tightening.

Really hard to make any specific suggestions without pictures or video.

Keep at it and you'll get it.

Your rubber oring is the problem.

Clean everything - oring, tank threads, retaining ring threads with window cleaner (just so you don't get a bunch of water in the tank using a hose. Then apply just a smidgen of Vaseline to to these parts.

A little Lubriplate really helped. Safe on rubber.

A little Lubriplate made it easy.
Also, Thank You -Mac for the "Nutsert" idea. I had to cut off 2 bolts with a Dremel.
