Dropped the fuel tank this evening and replaced with a Delphi fuel pump assembly. Pretty easy except the damn locking ring around the pump on the tank that thing is a biatch to get back seated correctly. Just had to man handle it and finally got it. Acceleration feels smooth and almost maybe more power. Starts up on first crank now which was the goal! Figured I’d share.

My brother and I dropped the tank on his '11 to replace the fuel pump due to periodic stalling.
This problem was caused by him adding some REALLY contaminated fuel to the tank during a trip to Louisiana.
Found the mesh filter almost fully obstructed with some black goo....
Instead of replacing the fuel pump with a knock off; I decided to try clean the mesh filter.
This involve disassembling the fuel pump to fully access the mesh filter.
The cleaning of the mesh filter at the pick up point is still working after > 3 years.
By the way.... Good looking Jeep....
Did you buy that locking ring removal tool or did you fabricate it ?

Yeah I bought the tool. I’m pretty confident my problem is the check valve but I’ll inspect the old pump and save it just in case. Hoping this Delphi lasts me awhile.
