I purchased a 2006 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. It is time for a transmission fluid change. I opted for a pan drop and filter change.

Ordered kit, filter and gasket.

Yesterday I did the task. Pretty easy as expected.

As I was removing the bolts, 10 mm not 3/8” I noticed one was a 1/2” and three others came out real easy.

The pan had a RTV gasket. Not cork and not rubber (that is ejected as nuts are tightened). On Reinstallation, all but those three tightened up to 14.5 ft-lbs. Those three plus the 1/2” bolt spun - stripped.

Please help me with a solution. I am open to all suggestions or if there is a consensus.

Here are my guesses:

  1. replace pan with RTV and tighten the bolts I can and see if she leaks.
  2. Acquire bolts and shave nuts off to thru-bolt the loose, stripped ones
  3. Press/hammer a sleeve and use the corresponding bolts
  4. Drill and Tap new and larger threads and install corresponding bolts in the four holes.

Please help
