03 Rubicon - Original Xfer case.

I believe the last number in the serial numbers indicates the year "8 20 02 J1" . I'm by no means an expert but I do have Google and an 03' Rubicon.

No Rubicons in 2002

03 production would have started in 02....it's the date of the tcase, not the yr model of the Jeep.

Looks to be correct. But at stated, make sure it's not a JK 241. I'd also find it where that leak is coming from.

The leak. I think I’d take it apart and re-seal rebuild whatever is possible before use. My sons Rubicon is making noise from the t-case. This may become a rebuild spare.

Mine has a manufacturer date of 16 January 2003. I have seen a lot of 2002 date stamps on it over my ten years of digging through it.
