Hey everyone,

I am on the verge of replacing my frame; finally addressing the largest flaw of my Jeep.

What are some maintenance items I should perform while I'm in there? This can include those only possible while the frame is off or more easily completed under the circumstances.

Model Specs:
2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0L 5MT (NVG3550)
Mileage: ~164K
3.07 axles dana 30/35, No lift

Recent Maintenance items:
Radiator, Hoses, Water Pump, Fan Clutch, Transfer case Replacement, Valve Cover Gasket, clutch throwout bearing, clutch master cylinder

Below is a list of maintenance items I have identified (some previously completed, as noted):
  • Brake Lines (pre-formed stainless steel) - Completed
  • Motor Mounts
  • Transmission Mount
  • Fuel tank skid mounting hardware (rusty)
  • Oil Pan (slight rust build up from scrape)
  • Transmission gearbox flush+fill
  • Fuel lines (rusty)
  • Exhaust System, Front-to-Back (cracked manifold + rusted to hell OEM cat back)
  • frame-to-body mounts
  • Engine Cleaning (Grimey from Valve Cover Leak)
let me know what you think and any suggestions for specific parts for each item.

So your in the rust belt and unlikely the control arms will just come apart without collateral damage so plan on new arms and hardware. The fuel line is stainless but the vapor recovery can corrode to nothing and can be replaced with 3/16 brake line (not available) and easily hand bent to fit. If the mounts are in good condition keep them since the Mopar mounts are superior and will last a long time.

Great, will add control arms and vapor recovery line to the list. I saw the vapor recovery line when doing the brake lines and the rust was even worse than the fuel line.

Now whether to purchase an OEM set or go adjustable for future upgrades 🤔

The fuel line will clean up nicely with a Scotch Brite. I used the Moog control arms that basically match the oem when I swapped frames.
