Time for a v8 swap

Sounds exactly like why I have a corded grinder

I haven't used my new battery powered tools a LOT yet but I'm so far impressed with how they are doing compared to my old tools. Give me a few months and I'll comment more about them.

Starting with a 6 cylinder as opposed to a 4 cylinder made the swap easier with these kits... But I am also shocked that they never offered a V-8 swap kit for the 4 cylinder crowd since it'd seem we'd be the ones more interested. I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact that motor mounts might be in the wrong location...

Keep plugging away at it.

I have 3 m12 batteries, 2 3.0 and a 6.0 for my Milwaukee ratchets and dremel. I have m18 stuff as well i just never bought the grinder because we have a few in my shop. The metal really isn't as thick as the stuff I deal with at work, I've found once it gets to two lights you basically have to just let it ride on the surface and slowly let it chew away. On the positive side I may have tracked down a set of the discontinued hooker blackhorse headers I'm hoping to pick them up this weekend. I'm contemplating having a professional welder make some duplicate sets for a possible group sale if anyone was interested but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

Some more parts ordered for the swap. I went with novaks crossflow radiator and their shifter linkage setup for the 6L80e.

I got the factory ears trimmed down, I cut a little too much off the passenger side but that's alright we can fix that up with some weld. Still waiting on the transfer case adapter that's being shipped with the atlas to set this drive train angle and weld the mounts in.

After a lovely drive halfway into long Island I was able to find a set of the discontinued holley blackhorse headers on Facebook marketplace , i was told they were only mounted but they are in good shape. I'm going to them ceramic coated.

So I was on the fence about having a buddy weld the mounts on or do it myself. Decided to cruise Facebook marketplace one night and found this forsale for $950 with a full tig setup, stick and mig. I ended up bringing it to worl to test it out and found out the welding transform was blown but I eventually got it going. I'm going to have to knock the rust off my welds and practice before I do the final run .

Buying the tool to DIY it is always cooler than paying someone else. Hope it works out well for you

I've got the same welder.... My ON/OFF switch went bad after only a few hours or work. I've tried more than once to use the Tig but I can't seem to get the scratch start down.
It is a good welder. My welds SUCK most times but have gotten better as I've been doing my build. It's one of those tools that once you have one you ask yourself how you lived without it.

My job had me certified for 4g stick welding 2 years ago, it definitely helped me learn the basics and I've been on and off sticking metal together since than. I have two 256 lincoln welders at my shop I've been using to get proficient with now i just need to get used to my machine. The guy told me the tig setup you have to like touch the tip on the material to get it going but I don't plan on using it right away. The hard part for me is figuring out the frame thickness. I cut a piece off and it looks thinner than 3/16 il have to run to beads with varying voltages and see how it penetrates the holley mounts are definitely the thinner metal here.

Well thats just beautiful, 84-85 mustang ? Those turbos look like they sit nicely in there. This is going to be my first ls swap I'm hoping it goes smooth but there's always hiccups on a build. Do you have any videos of that thing running ? I'd love to hear it.

Thank you! I appreciate that. Its an 85. And I put the turbos basically behind the inner headlights when I built the set up. Removed the headlights for direct airflow. Seemed to like it. Car made 1191whp with that setup. And I don't currently have anything. But I'll upload a couple clips to YouTube so I can post them here. Never been in a forum before so haven't had to do that.
