I’ve had my jeep (2006 auto) for 4 months now. Probably managed 1000 miles

Engine blew - new engine
Various parts added along the way (new ODPA, shocks, brakes, track bar etc)
Transmission was playing up so replaced valve body, TCC solenoid. New pcm. No improvement. Then driving it home a couple of weeks ago it dumped ATF from pump seal. Lost 4 quarts over every part of the underside of the jeep, smoke billowing out the back from it hitting the exhaust.

Bit the bullet and bought remanufactured transmission and a trans cooler. Just had the transferred fitted and then fitted the new cooler (also rerouted the cooling lines away from the hot ass cats). All transmission issues now sorted and shifting smoothly….driving it home from Costco and it blew a hose from the transmission to the cooler and dumped ATF everywhere again.

So, once again I wait for triple AAA to rescue me.

I guess the hose clamps weren’t enough my to secure the hoses. Will need to get a proper flare kit and redo the connections.

I long for the day I can trust this thing to get me somewhere and back again

Just a couple of regular worm drive clamps.

I have a 13 row stocked plate cooler, I guess it’s just a case of pressure being higher than the clamps were good for.

Well I went through much of what you went through. I think I was really finally dialing in things...then my wife smashed into me on the freeway and folded the Jeep in half...

I could have bought two now for the money I’ve piled into this. I see people cruising around in them all the time and can’t help but think ‘why not me?’ 😢

WOW, sorry to hear your problems. I feel your pain and hope mine holds together! If mine was that much of a headache and expense it would be for sale after the fixes. Not to be negative about Jeeps on a Jeep discussion board; love my Sahara but after Toyota products and no problems for years I could not live with a problem vehicle and I'm not a mechanic.

Might try Fuel injection type clamps. I dont think you'll find T bolts that small. Welcome to jeep ownership and being broke.

Ok all done. Fuel injection clamps done. Topped up with 5 quarts of ATF (should have bought shares in that, I’ve been through about 30 quarts with all the work being done) and a short drive.

I desperately want to take the jeep on my camping trip in a couple of weeks. I just need a week of nothing going wrong to build up my confidence in it.

My almost 30 year old TJ with 140,000 miles has been far more reliable than my Made in USA (Indiana)Toyota with 73,000 miles, which was purchased new, by me, and perfectly maintained. It has had 4 no starts leaving me stranded requiring tow to dealer, electrical gremlins no one can figure out, blows random fuses for no reason, and leaks more oil all over the place than the TJ (fixing oil leak is $7000, requiring engine pull). Brakes are GARBAGE and "warp" if you even think about using them. Coolant weep from head gasket. CANBUS insanity. Can't use auto climate control because if I do some blend door plastic gear under the dash will strip require complete dashboard removal. Can't use rear wiper washer because will leak onto headliner requiring *complete* interior removal. Can't leave it in the sun more than a few hours or the paint will flake off. Body panel fitment would make 1970s union auto factory workers cringe. Multiple recalls. Modern Toyota is less reliable, and more far more expensive, than 1990s Chrysler Corporation junk. I'm in the southwest, so none of the issues are due to road salt. Amazing times we live in.

Edit: and before you say "sell it," what else would I get? Absolutely every car made since 2018 is garbage.

I love the way this thing looks, and makes me feel when I'm driving it. It's less about the expense (although I hate to add up the money I've spent ~$30k )

but, not knowing if it will leave me stranded somewhere is a real pain.
