Texas Texas Jeepers!

Yeah i hit a little pothole @ 50mph and the front wheels got wobbly. Now theres a front wheel shimmy.
I hope to make it, i have some time this week to try a couple things
Alright, what is going on here? Ok, so, do you have to come to a stop or near stop to get it to stop wobbling or shimmying? Or just slow down a little bit? Is it only within a certain mph window? Does it do it whether you hit a bump or not? Those tires on the 05 are getting close to the end of their life, so switching with the 97 will be a good test.

I don't think Bob in Texas will be making it this weekend.

We definitely need to find out who is joining us for this trip. Depending on the weather, JMT mentioned camping on Friday. I won't be able to camp, but I can come out on Friday for a few hours after work.

Are you in or out?

@b0xcar - In
@JMT - In
@KCsTJ - ?
@Blackoutt - ?
@Kyle_W - ?
@Jeepers-N-Creepers - ?
@Bob in Texas - In

Any other Texas member that is lurking and would like to join us?

I may be interested! How hard do you guys go? I’m a trail n00b (only been out once) and in a pretty mild Jeep so not sure how well I can keep up. I guess worst case I could ride along on the hard stuff, haha.

Ah, yes, I was hoping you would chime in. I could not for the life of me remember your screen name. You're on a 2" BB and 32's....If @KCsTJ comes along, he's on 2" SL and 31's. @Kyle_W is almost stock if I recall. There are bypasses to some of the stuff, especially along the outer fence. We can be smart. We can also stack rocks. I have recovery equipment, winch and tree strap. @b0xcar has the same and a snatch block, which got me out of a jam very nicely one time.

I think im good for Dec 1 !
Spent the morning checking the alignment on my 05. It was off by 1/2".
Front end is back to feeling solid, no shimmy, no minor DW.
I didnt realign the front end after @JMT helped me with my 2" lift.
Shame on me, now she drives solid like before. Big :-) . Yay !

Im a nooB too .... we wheel as jard as each dares to. I sometimes will take a bypass if it looks too gnarly.

Come join us @Y2K Heep wheel at your own pace.

@Y2K Heep my jeeps are bascally stock but for a 2" lift. I need them as daily drivers so i keep them tame for now.;-)

@Kyle_W has a mostly stock jeep.

Dont worry, a stock jeep is plenty capable to wheel with us. :-)

You will be fine, we can even do trail repairs! ...so far. :-)

Its a good group. You dont want to stay home cuz then u will be sad when you see all our post wheelin pics/videos and ur not there ! :-)

Hey Y'all,

Doin' my best to break-away for a run on Saturday at Hidden Falls.

I'll update all as the week further unfolds.

I'm still nursing a recent back injury (on top of other, older back injuries), so if I make it, I'll likely have to tread the low-impact trails (i.e., top-out at Level-3 maybe).

At the same time, I don't want to hold y'all back from charging the more sticky stuff.

Glad you came over here to post! You can definitely get around out there with us. All trails will have some sort of bypass on the hard obstacles. @Kyle_W was able to take on part of a lvl 5 trail. I believe he has a 2" SL with 30" tires.

This is Kyle_W on International Highway, a lvl5 trail.

We have recovery gear if we happen to get hung up some how.

Any suggestions please?

Okay I should be able to join! What time are we meeting and where? My springs and shocks came today so I won’t have them on for this trip, but next time for sure.

A champion idea, @JMT, on forming the "Hill Country Wheelers" group.

May I suggest for consideration, (2) possible means by which to qualify for membership (i.e., initiation):

1) Successfully negotiate a Level-5 climb at Hidden Falls - blindfolded - and while blasting "Beastie Boys" on one's sound system.

Or, alternately...

2) Present the group with a shrubbery--and a felled tree--felled with a herring (video of such, below):

You may indeed make this suggestion. I’ve been meaning to get back to you. Sorry for the delay! I’ll be back! Love the suggestions! LOL
