We headed down to Slade, KY (Red River Gorge) on Friday afternoon in pouring down rain. Got up Saturday to beautiful weather, all be it a bit chilly. We spent the day with 15 rigs (3 TJ's, 10 JK's, 2 JL's, and 1 JT) on Little Widowmaker and Widowmaker trails at Hollerwood Off-Road Park. Saturday the core group went out (less my TJ, I was a passenger princess - reason below) to do some areas not accessible to everyone. My brother's JK is the tan one and my nephew's TJ is the orange one.

The PSC Hydro Assist was AMAZING. If anyone tells you that it isn't needed, they've never driven in/on the rocks with it.

Because of the wet and slippery rocks, I slipped on a rock and dang near broke my ankle. The picture of it is from an hour after. Luckily I didn't break it, but just twist it up pretty good. I can hardly walk today.

I did break a TRE again, the same location I broke one last time out. We are ordering the RPM Off-set hemi crossover set up tomorrow. I need to drill the taper out with a 3/4" bit and get a 5/8" straight shim for the heim bolts. The heims will be much stronger than TRE's and hopefully take the abuse they get better.

The last 2 pictures are of a creek that comes from out of a cave. The second to last is where it comes out and the last one is where it goes back underground. It is called Sinking Creek.

Can't wait to go back to Hollerwood in June for the Jeep Jamboree and November for the 10th Annual Meet & Greet Ride.

Here is the Wheat's Off-Road video of the weekend! Notice how at the beginning that a JK had to winch but 3 TJ's went thought with no issues? LOL

Got caught in a rain/hail storm on widow maker a few years back. Trail leader was up top the waterfall ledge and everyone else turned around as the water kept rising. I stayed and went up the waterfall ledge. We finished the trail and met up with the others on the other side. Got major body damage that day pinned between rocks front and rear.

Hollerwood is fun. Went there a few year ago, but missed out on the widows, unfortunately. We got turned around, looking for the trails and kinda got lost on the property. It was quite the experience getting back.

Especially since you don't have cell service there. The Widow's are great trails. Little Widow sets you up as a teaser for Widow. The waterfall on Widow isn't a joke. Several in our group had to use a winch to get the front up because of the way the water had eroded the rock out a lot deeper than the last time we were there. There was 1 spot a 40" tire would disappear before going up the waterfall.

OnX Off-Road has all their trails mapped out. I love that app for new places. Even if they are already mapped out, I can track my trail and keep a record of where I've been.

Yeah, we were using trailview or something. I had downloaded the area, had a buddy that gave me a lot of little spots to check out, like Townsend Cave, but we still got turned around. The mountains really mess with the GPS and cell. We were there about three years ago, and OnX has gotten significantly better in that time. I was an OnX guy, then switched to Gaia. I might go back to OnX now.
