Does anyone carry or have carried a dirtbike on the back of their TJ? Something like a Honda trail90 or MX type? Post if you have pictures please. I am thinking about putting a Honda Trail90 on the back of my '97 and I was wondering if you folks had done it before, how it went and how it looked... Thanks

I seem to remember someone hauling one. But can't remember when.

Roughly what does one of these weigh?

A TJ has a 2K lb towing capacity meaning it has a 200lb tongue weight capacity. You might be able to build something stouter that could handle more weight but how much I don't know.

They weigh roughly 200lbs so that would really put a strain on the hitch , especially coming own off of a bump. hummm.

If you fried a hitch type carrier I'd want to add a 1.25" receiver at each end also so that there'd be 3 things supporting it. That seems like the best way but it'd be a PITA to get mounted I'd think. I've seen it don't on motorhomes.

I had one for awhile and then switched to mountain biking. The heavier ktm 690 was a bit scary at high speeds but lighter Husqvarna 501 felt fine.

The hitch carrier is a cheap aluminum one that I shorten to keep the weight closer and added brake lights

Have a dual dirtbike carrier for my truck but it’s a F350 with a 3” receiver. I couldn’t imagine one for a TJ.

It’s not the weight but the constant movement of the bike bouncing down the road.
I had a Honda trail 110 that I carried on the front of my F350 back in the day. I had 2” receivers welded to each frame rail.

I would strongly advise you reconsider a trailer instead
Alot safer from my perspective

I drag my bikes all over
Use to own a cheap folding trailer from HF we put plywood on and eyelets to drag 3 dirt bikes around

That is sort of what i was thinking about using, some setup like that. I can see ( and read) now that a small trailer maybe the best way to go .
