Hey Guys,
My 33" spare proved to be too much for my tailgate after several years of driving with it.
Looking at adding a reinforcement kit, most likely the Morryde.
Problem is the tailgate is already damaged. Is there any reasonable repair option to the current, or do i need to replace before adding the Morryde kit?
Was hoping it would cover up and 'sandwich' the damage, but from what i see the kit relies heavily on the original bolt holes. as you can see in the photos it literally tore the metal on the two upper bolts. Please ignore all the salt, still very much winter here.

Thanks all.. sounds like replace for sure.
I can go new aftermarket hope I can salvage the hardware off current. Assume it will need to be painted also.
Or i can go used from a wrecker and use the hardware it comes with. Also needs paint unless I can find a black one.
If anyone other there has a lead on used black tailgate in Southern Ontario.. please let me know

I'm a fan of OEM body panels, they're generally just better than any after market stuff. If you can find your color, or a color that works, go with it, but beware of potential internal rust issues if that's common in your area.

That's not damage solely from the wheel...that was rusted to death, the wheel just shortened its life.
