Stuck bolts

This is a frustration post! I know the way to take an unstuck bolt, but boy do I hate it when I get to those bolts. Trying to take the skid plate off, 2 bolts are stubborn as hell. Needless to say, I ordered a 30" breaker bar (I have been using 18" one). I already soaked in PB blaster for days, and tapped it with hammer, used torch on it. you name it I have done it and I am still not able to get those 2 dang bolts off.
 
PB-Blaster is barely(!) better than WD-40. No guarantees a better penetrant would help in this case but tests show that Kroil and Liquid Wrench are MUCH better penetrants than PB-Blaster. Are you getting the bolt hot enough with the torch? If it's not smoking hot it's not hot enough. Are there any access holes in the frame near enough to the two stuck bolts to spray penetrant in from the top?
 
I've heard Kroil is good and I've had very good luck with Free All. There are a lot of guys who swear by ATF mixed with acetone. Like Jerry said, when heating the bolt get it real hot, with acetylene and a small tip it should get cherry red in short order. I've had them practically fall out after getting cherry red, the heat causes them to expand and the resulting squeeze around the surrounding metal "upsets" them so when they cool they are slightly smaller in diameter. Of course you should replace the bolt after this.

That they nearly fall out after getting hot enough is no exaggeration. I had 4-5 seized bolts on my transfer case years ago and nothing worked, the allen-heads finally stripped out so I welded nuts onto each bolt head. I was shocked when I started using a 1/2" drive ratchet to remove them, they needed no force to remove, I could have used a 1/4" drive ratchet wrench. The heat from being welded on was enough to completely un-seize them.
 
Thank you both. Jerry, I just placed an order for Kroil. I was reading through other posts to see what everyone has suggested, I learned about it and placed the order a minute ago.
I may have not gotten the bolt glowing, but I did see smoke coming off. Unfortunately, there is no space between the skid plate and the frame (the frame was sprayed to seal in the rust)

I sheared a pedal off on one of my vintage Schwinn bikes and the broken stud would not turn for anything, it was in there from the early 1960's. When I got it cherry red with a pin point torch it did fall out without me touching a wrench to it.

Buy new nutserts from Black Magic Brakes before doing anything. Get the install tool too. You don't want to find out that they are toast only to wait on new stuff to come in the mail.


Off topic...but I have the BMB nutsert install tool and recently used it to install a front wheel stud.....worked perfectly using just a 1/2" ratchet.
 
UPDATE: Used torch for 3-5 mins on each bolt and a breaker bar, got all loose enough then used Kroil and a combination of loosening a few turns then tightening a couple of turns, and tapping with a hammer to loosen the rust and let the fine rust fall out to get them all the way out. I figured I write this update to help the next person with the same problem.

Looks like a hunk of pavement from a nasty road surface.
