We have a stout, little rockhard4x4 stubby freedom bumper that we’re pretty happy with. It has some options that are available for it, that while bolt-on, seem pretty stoutly made, similar to our bumper:

  • Grille hoop - $150.00
  • Squared off stinger $180.00

  1. My first thought is with all the work we’ve done and will be doing soon to the grill area (new radiator recently, possibly a new mechanical fan/clutch to replace our electric setup, etc.) that one of these options might do a good job of protecting that area with a minimum of cost and weight from damage in the event of a flop/rollover/animal contact, etc.
  2. 2nd thought is that downhill climbs do make the rearend feel a bit light so preventing front rolls doesn’t seem like a bad thing?
  3. 3rd, i think stingers look kinda goofy, in general, so for me, this would be a purely functional add-on, IMO.
I do notice many jeeps don’t run these and when they roll over the grill area gets pretty worked over. Makes me cringe knowing how much $$$/ functionality is built into that area?

Open to thoughts.

I have a smaller stinger type thing on my bumper, I was thinking about removing it but realized if I hit a deer it might save my winch/grill area. I used to have a longer one on a cheap chinese bumper and I was always nervous to rear end someone with it lol. Just my 0.02
