Steering problems

I used loctite 545 thread sealant on all my fittings. A couple drops on either side of the fitting and mounted in place. I havent had any leaks yet. I think I was able to buy it at NAPA.

Not that I'm aware of. When you remove it you can inspect it closely for any unusual wear or pitting.

What a great video, you do a really good job explaining things in enough detail that I was willing to tackle this job. Otherwise I think I would have just paid someone to rebuild the box.

There was one o ring that was removed from the spool valve where the worm drive sits. I don't think I saw in the video where you replaced it (I could have missed it). I did replace it so hopefully that's correct. The removal was at 44:45 in the video.

One thing I noticed while trying to assemble the spool valve back together, mine had a small dot on the bottom in line with the hole. That helped me keep things straight so everything would "click" together. I got to reinstall that assembly twice because I forgot the piece that has the bearings on my workbench. I kept wondering why the cap was so easy to spin on all the way in.

Thanks. I may have missed it but I did mention taking it off. The dot lines up with the pin on the inside IIRC. You have to have it in line, so it is a perfect reference point. Glad it helped you out.

That's fine. Just be aware that the flare can sometimes lock on harder than the force required to turn the adapter fitting.

If it is the aluminum reservoir, good luck. They tend to be noisy.

Do you know roughly how much steering fluid will go in with your cooler installed? No hydro assist.

Had my son turning the wheel lock to lock while I watch the reservoir with the top off. After a little while the fluid starts to rise and it's about to overflow when I tell him to stop. We turn the jeep on with the reservoir top still off and turning back and forth. Everything seems fine but I wouldn't expect the overflow unless it had air still in the system somewhere.

I did drive it around the neighborhood and power steering feels stronger than before. It doesn’t feel like it has any dead spots and when I got back I opened the reservoir while it was running and I don’t see any air bubbles or frothing.
