Steering Box Upgrade

Good news is the box comes tapped for assist. So if you decide you need it down the road your ready to go.

Hydro assist done correctly is 100% transparent. The rig steers exactly the same on the road as it does on the trail with zero discernible bad habits and the only difference is it turns on the trail easier than it did before.

This is my experience. Absolutely no difference on road.

So why does PSC have this disclaimer? Just CYA?

"Cylinder assist steering systems are designed for use on off-road vehicles to increase steering force to the steering axle. They are not designed to resolve poor on-road handling characteristics of an off-road vehicle. We do not recommend a cylinder assist modified system for vehicles that are driven as everyday transportation on public streets and highways. Cylinder assist systems have an adverse affect on how the steering responds and will not produce the same steering characteristics as a production steering system."

"Adverse affect"? That's a strong statement. I don't see that at all. I ran my PSC without the ram assist or a cooler for quite awhile. I cannot tell any difference between having the ram assist and not having it on the road. If I were to stretch it, I guess it's possible that the ram assist makes the steering so "light" that you could oversteer in low traction conditions (e.g., icy roads). Even in that case, the box and HP pump would be the same without the ram assist.

I'm guessing that it is CYA--they're wanting to avoid lawsuits. PSC knows full well that most ram assist setups are driven quite a lot on paved roads. If they weren't complicit with this, they would only sell full hydro systems that only go off road. Instead, they offer a full kit setup for TJ's.

Stop being silly. I already stated that I fix many that are fucked up. If you sold a product where so many folks take it upon themselves to outsmart the designer, what the hell would you say?

The best part of that picture is Chris made at least 4 mistakes in it that I missed because I was trying to get some method of sticking numbers next to parts without paying attention to what parts were being used.
