I am looking for suggestions or recommending ideas for a problem I am having. My jeep sometimes does not turn over when starting it. There is a click but the starter solenoid does not engage. Happens mostly after being driven. I have replaced the starter and solenoid with a brand new not a rebuilt one. Replaced the battery with a new one. Made sure all the connections were correct and good on both the starter and battery. Replaced the electronic key selector on the switch with most expensive type. After trying several times or cooling off everything works great. This is very strange to me and help from TJ Jeepers.

I had this happen in a XJ I used to own, it was a loose wire, it would heat up and Jeep wouldn't start unless it sat and cooled down. This was 20+ years ago so I don't remember the exact wire, maybe look around and see if you have anything hanging down.

Well I can tell you in my hot rod days the headers caused problems with heat on the starter making it not want to start hot and burning up starters pre-maturely. To be clear I did not ever hot rod a SBC, Olds fan here, but it still applies.

I got rid of the Mopar PDC a long time ago.
That didn't exactly answer my question though.

Mopar or not, most modern electronicly controlled engines have a starter relay between the igntion and the starter relay, some where in or near the "fusebox"... Or PDB if you're LS enclined...
