Stalling issue

I’ve gone through the posts about stalling already and it doesn’t seem like anyone has the same issue I’m having.
I can’t replicate the problem. It randomly just stutters, sometimes just once other times it will stutter violently until it dies. Sometimes I can floor it and prevent it from happening. When it dies I can push in the clutch throw it in neutral and it fires up like nothing ever happened. I’ve tried to pop the clutch and it will start but continues stuttering. I have to turn it completely off then start it. I drove this Jeep 19 hours from Tennessee to Massachusetts with this problem and it would randomly do it the entire way. As crazy and dumb as this sounds it would start this EVERY TIME I hit an incline. Any big hill I always go prepared to have to start this sequence of “clutch in, neutral, start it”
It does throw a code but it’s something different every time, first the coil then fuel pump then back to coil, then crank sensor then back to fuel pump.
Things ive done
IAC
TPS
CRANK SENSOR
CAM SENOR
FUEL PUMP AND ASSEMBLY
COIL
I also removed every electrical connector, cleaned it and dielectric greased it

What year, what engine? If I recall 2005-2006 4.0 PCM's had issues like yours.
His Profile indicates he has a 2000 4.0.

@Kawijeep have you ever noticed the issues before the engine has started to warm up? Do you know if the O2 sensors were ever replaced? If they were do you know what kind of O2 sensors were installed?

While chasing this issue this was actually the next thing I was going to replace was 02 sensors. Until I was told to get some freeze frame data. It does seem to do better if I wait until it warms to operating temp but still has the issue. If I start it up and immediately leave it is awful, like it’ll do it within 1/4 mile and die.

Need to get some live data and/or freeze frame data.

So from the information I have above I need to change some 02 sensors. I’m confused about why it’s still giving me crank/cam sensor issues. I’ve replaced them both cam sensor just 2 days ago. I also used MOPAR. When I replace the 02 from what I’ve read it needs to be NTK.

Did you clear the codes after sensor replacement?

OK all that combined definitely doesn't sound like a bad O2 sensor.

So when I changed that sensor 2 days ago is also when I disconnected all electrical plugs and greased them. So in doing so I disconnected the battery. When I started the Jeep there was no check engine light for a while until I drove it and it started stuttering again. Should I erase the codes manually and see what happens?

(Just erased them) little late now but I’ll drive it to work and see what kind of codes/data I get from the scanner and get back to you guys tomorrow.

Unplug the O2 sensors and then test drive it.

You may also need to check the OPDA timing.

I mean we've got a jeep that won't start and we're screwing around with 02 sensors while we ignore the cam/crank code which is always tied to stalling & no-start conditions. If you've already replaced the sensors I would be looking at the wiring to those sensors (all the sensors, actually).

The jeep starts just fine as stated previously. It’s a stalling / sputtering issue I have looked at a lot of the wiring. ( I may have missed something ) so I can definitely go through and check again. I’m also looking into o2 sensors because I have a code for o2 sensors. It’s a work in progress man.

I get it. I just found it odd that everybody seemed to focus on o2 when the CKS & CPS were also throwing a code. I've heard about people resolving a rough running jeep by replacing the clock spring. No idea if that's your issue, but anything on that same ground or 5V circuit that has an issue could cause the CKS or CPS to stutter enough to cause a problem. And that clock spring is on that same 5V circuit that the sensors use. IDK, just one more thing to consider.
