Hello all,
I know this is a common issue and just looking for the right answer. I upgraded tires and wheels on my 97 TJ to wheels with a negative offset and now my spare is not hitting the rubber bumper/Snubbers. Does anyone have a good solid solution to this?
Thanks for the help

Probably not what you wanted to hear but I used racquet balls and have been great for a few years.

Trim some pvc pipe or a rubber mallet to size

+1 for PVC and rubber stool feet

Lots of good solutions here. I used a couple of mallets from Harbor Freight. Trimmed/sanded to the width needed, drilled holes through the centers, and used longer bolts to attach behind the factory snubbers.

For a factory look, I placed a snubber on a hockey puck and traced the shape. Rough cut it on a bandsaw and then cleaned the edges up on a 2x72 belt grinder. Added a longer bolt and it looks exactly like a longer factory snubber.

+2 for the hockey puck solution.
Mine was still slightly too thin to make good, solid contact with the tire because I have the pie-plate third brake light, but i'll probably fix it by adding a plastic shim that I can trim to size.
I didn't cut the pucks except for the notch that was needed to clear the top hinge.

I think this is fairly simple, but important mod. As you can see above, there are many good ways to do it. I bought some new 1.85" snubbers from Crown and cut the old ones to the necessary height. Longer allen bolts were needed as well:

Honestly I was surprised too. I think it was the combination of having to get an adaptor so it wouldn’t hit the rear bumper and offset is making it sit this far out.

Once I get a new rear bumper, I don’t think I’ll need the adaptor anymore.

Even with these extended snubbers I do worry about the leverage a bit.

How are others getting their wheels to sit so close without hitting their bumpers? Body lifts?

A BL will help, but most aftermarket wheels will push the wheel out far enough. My 35" spare sits on the bumper, taking the weight off the tailgate hinges.

Yea I have -19 offset so stocking out a bit for me.

I’m hoping an aftermarket bumper maybe with a cut out would allow me to use the stock carrier without the bumper and shorter snubbers.

Or a bumper with a carrier swing, not sure if I want that yet though.

also for reference. the 120mm bolt was a typo, I meant (2) 110mm.
