Spare Tire Carrier Options

Planning on getting new 33x12.50 tires and replacing my stock spare tire carrier. What would be the best recommendation for the lowest price? I have also looked into the reinforced hinges and MORryde carriers which have caught my attention. It does not need to have a bumper but any carrier of good quality which wont burn a huge hole in my pocket is of my interest. Please do not recommend me smittybilt..... Any help is appreciated.

I'd go moryde/exogate. Unless you can find a bestop highrock carrier (low price due to being discontinued)

Can't get much cheaper that using the stock carrier...... If your worry is that the stock carrier isn't strong enough, then you're looking at the hinge reinforcements (moryde/exogate) or bumper mounts. If your worry is about the stock carrier not fitting the larger tire, a few cheap spacers can go a long way. There are several carriers that claim to fit up to 35" tires that are no better or stronger than the stock one.

I just ordered a MORryde tire carrier today from Amazon for $299 and free shipping which was the best price I've seen for it.

I just put 33 x 12.50 x 15" tires on my T.J. and I added the rough country spare tire spacer to the existing tire carrier… $49.95.. Works like a charm!

The Jeep I purchased doesn’t have the stock tire carrier. I’m leaning towards buying the morryde kit but I’m not sure if I should get a stock carrier somewhere or purchase an aftermarket.

somewhat different question, does the poison spider stinger tire carrier pivot down if you have to open the tailgate? That’s seems like a pain in the ass

I'm using the stock carrier on the moryde. When I put the moryde on, the original carrier was cracked so I replaced it with another stock one.

I really like my Bestop High Rock (tub mounted) carrier. I'm pretty sure they've discontinued it though. Sometimes you can find them used on the classified/ CL/ FB market place.
