I was looking in to getting a cage for my 2002 tj. After looking at videos and pictures of the Smittybilt src cage it dosint seem that strong to me. It appears the the front A pillars just bolt onto the tub on the dash mounts. Does anyone have any information on this, maybe I’m just missing something.
Thanks

It's more for looks, I wouldn't run it. In fact I avoid anything that says Smittybilt on it. I might run Smittybilt floor mats or seat covers so long as their name wasn't displayed on them but that's about it.

A somewhat cheap cage is likely to be less safe than a better one. They need to find a way to lower the price somehow. If you have a local tube bender in your area look at what he/she wants to upgrade the cage.
Stock Wrangler cages aren't really that great to begin with anyway. If you plan on going places that you really need a strong protection cage then go with a complete weld in design that strongly mounts the body and frame.
--just one old guy's opinion--

It's a steaming pile of shit, the only place it belongs is in a dumpster which should then be promptly lit on fire.

Look at how the a-pillar bars mount.

If you want to do it, custom build a cage and go behind the dash (as to not trap the dash). There are numerous threads on this forum on how to do it the right way. The Smittbilt cage and almost any other "bolt-on" cage out there is not the right way.

poison spyder is not much better. i picked 1 up cheap last yr NIB, but it needs improvements and additions to be better. it's a decent start is all.
and stanchions at the dash are cosmetic and do not offer any real structure due to how they attach and the thin L design.

I assume Rock Hard's isn't liked very much here either?
adding a bolt on bar or 2 is not gonna be wrong or harmful, it can help bolster the stock sport bars frame, picking the right pieces is key.
maybe the cross bar at the windscreen and/or another 1 at the top of the bend in back.
across the B side to side (harness restraint). even a twig from B to C could offer something. but real strength comes from triangulation of the twigs, and welding.
