Simple, Battery-Powered Interior Light?

Check that the #4 fuse is installed (10AMP I believe) in the fuse block behind the glove box. That is the "Door Switch Defeat" fuse and is made to be removed when the doors are off so the dome light will not run the battery down since the switch for the dome light is in the door jamb.
It also controls the "Headlights On" chime if the key is out of the ignition, the door(s) are open and the light are on.

I have a this flashlight Velcro strapped to my rear roll bar. The power button is on top so it is easy to turn on/off and lights up the whole back of the TJ.

I think I got the light at Harbor Freight and the straps at Amazon.

I bought the straps originally to just lightly wrap around the roll bar and seat belt strap to keep it from flapping when the top is down.

I guess you checked the bulbs in the sound bar. Those lense snap off and on and are directional.
I didn't know that, will check them out...may explain why my 06 lights up in front better .

The cool thing about the headlamp trick is you can remove it , put the head strap on it , wear it and change a tire .

This is only my second day to own this TJ, so I'm still poking around. I have these mounted behind the roll bar, but I can't find a switch for the lights anywhere. Any ideas where to look?

Roll the turn signal knob outer end , it dims and activates all interior lights, the click adjust the odometer brightness in these feature laden vehicles (tongue in cheek).

I may try the roll bar first with black zip ties so I don't have it hitting my eyes.

That's another cool thing I liked about the rotation of that Stanley light. It's so bright that I could have it shining directly upward into the white of the hard top and the overall brightness in the cabin area wasn't much different at all. Same lighting, but no bright light to shine into my eyes.

I used a piece of Velcro self wrap scrap I had and wrapped it around the roll bar, through the light bracket. Thanks for the idea @bedhed ! Normally I don't have my rear seat installed, but my granddaughter needed a place to sit. : ) With the seat out, it will really light the cargo area up.

My sound bar light actually work, but I have green LED's in them.

I ended up using spider balls.

I really appreciate the post and I can't tell you how many times I'm like man I just don't have enough light up here... The TJ forum gets it done again.

I'm glad it worked out for you guys. Y'all have me sitting here wanting to go pick up another one now. I've been wanting to get more light under the hood and that same light would help me there too. Maybe just mount the base somewhere and just clip in the light when I need it.

Just added another project to the list.😆 Another win for the forum.

Oh, what are spider balls? Haven't heard of those before.

I tried that. It doesn't turn those lights on that I posted the photo of. Must be something else going on.

The owner may have installed a switch for removing the doors and not having the lights stay on. I installed my switch under the dash on the passenger side
