Side hood intake

That was pretty convincing. Hard to beat 10hp for around $100. I’m collecting parts

Cheap HP for sure...

I'd bet money on those of us with strokers having a more substantial increase. I had to reset my pcm and have a throttle body whistle at certain positions now(stock with the step ground out).

I'd agree since it appears the stock air box might be a slight restriction on a stock motor and a stroker is asking for more air.

Especially with the stroker. The stock horn on my air box is 42mm. The intake I’m planning is no less the 3” (76mm) to the throttle body which for me is 62mm instead of the stock 58mm. The cross sectional area of the pinch point is therefore doubled (approx. 1400 to 3000 mm squared). Gotta help based on @ Jezza’s stock 4.0 data. I will assume that for @Jezza the stock 58 mm throttle body is the pinch point since removing the filter element didn’t really do much. Speaking of the filter, the WIX Windstar filter flows 250 cfm vs the WIX sock 4.0 at 210 cfm. Does anyone know what the Jeep 7120 head flows?

Edit: AI says “The Jeep 7120 head has flow figures at 28 inches of water pressure drop, with intake flow reaching up to 192 cfm at 0.6 inches of valve lift and exhaust flow reaching up to 138 cfm at the same lift. This head is known for its performance in the Jeep 4.0L engines from 1991 to 1995” so the filter should not be limiting.

The 7120 head has identical ports and chambers to the 0630 head used on early tj's. difference being the temp sensor port on the yj head.

If you look on jeep strokers you can find russ pottengers flow data for stock, ported and edelbrock.

I can't find the picture I had of a YJ with some thinner louver strips on it running down the side of the hood. I'd bought some louvers to do the same to my hood if needed but I think I've got enough air flow through my engine compartment now.

But as you said you are just looking for cooler air then the Windstar mod is going to be your best bang for the buck.

I didn’t know that

I need to spend more time there.

Confirmed. Although comparing the 2 side by side, its hard to say why assuming the same material. By eyeball the surface area of the Windstar doesn’t look to be a lot more🤷‍♂️

But with these alternative intake systems (whether true CAI or not), has anyone returned to test again after the computer has time to adapt? Over here, that's what I took Blaine to be saying?

If you follow the thread you'll see he has enough dyno runs and hrs of run time for that to not be an issue with the windstar intake. 30 hole injectors? That is definitely something that needs tuning

Blaine decided to be a butthurt Lil bitch and block me after following me around on different threads trying to hurt my feelings,so I don't have the honor of seeing his self righteous posts anymore 🤣

Here are the louvers I'd bought to use on the side of the hood if needed. So far the Poison Spyder hood vent & the GenRight lovers are helping but the Hemi doe run warm.
