The trails around me are getting changed by the use of SxS’s. Trails have been getting rougher for my TJ over the years. I like rough trails but we used to have moderate trails that were fast and fun. I hesitate to say that SxS’s are damaging the trails, but they have taken the joy out of jeeping. They go a lot faster and as a result, disturb the trail more. In the last 8 years I have only seen one other Jeep out where I go, everything is SxS and dirt bikes. I’m thinking of selling my TJ because it’s no fun getting beaten to death every time I go out.

SXS's are ruining the trails here in the PNW too... And while I had one for a short time it's the idiots who have no respect for our lands that PISS ME OFF...
Just like the Jeepers of the 70's the SXS crowd now is worse and I wish they'd never been made....

Do I sound like @Zorba now when he's talking about the phooooooone?

Agreed. They are everywhere, like giant rats, and the morons who drive them create bypass after bypass around obstacles and they tear up sensitive meadows and wetlands. Id like to see them gone but the reality is they will completely take over.

Screw you guys, we love ours!! Poor old jeep hasn’t seen action since we bought it, only about 6 weeks ago. :ROFLMAO:

It is a different crowd, a younger crowd for sure. In this area you rarely hear a 20 something say they want a jeep, it’s always a sxs. I think this is the biggest reason they attract so much hate and I don’t see it changing. It’s always a few bad apples that ruin it for everyone, it’s just that there are so many of them and that makes for a lot of apples….

Side x sides are the reason I'm looking at swapping out my TJ for something that's a little easier to put 37s on. They create such huge ruts that even my 35s will bottom out the diff before I can get through. I can still get most places but I want to go further. My buddies with 37" JKs can't get some places. So that makes me feel better lol

Decades ago, the snowmobilers got organized. They pooled their money and had snowmobile trails built, but for only snowmobiles. The last couple of decades, we haven't had the snow we used to, and the snowmobilers started buying SXS's. Now the snowmobile trails are ATV trails in the Summer. It's a great example of how money and influence drives the use of tax dollars.

I hate side by sides. I run a side business fixing power equipment and ATVs/dirt bikes. Every single side by side owner that wants theirs fixed wants it done as cheap as possible. I stopped working on them. They are a nightmare to fix, the parts are expensive, and the owners cry poverty whenever I give an estimate... then they go to the dealership and come back with a new one they financed instead.

Funny, we have a bunch of SXS running around here generally going too fast, and it tends to be a younger crowd that is a little annoying blasting shitty music, but I think the all the 4-door Jeeps and Broncos on 37s and bigger are doing the most significant damage here. I keep seeing ruts and digs, similar to what you posted, that are just too big for a SXS to have done.

Well, I guess I can't put all the blame on Side x Sides, since I haven't witnessed it personally. However there are many obstacles we can't get through that the side by sides can walk right over. Honestly I love going fast, I don't play music tho since I can't concentrate/communicate with it playing.
