Correct, the earlier bracket did not have that added support. Mine failed and they warrantied the bracket 2 years later with the new design. It’s been solid ever since.

That's what I did. The coil was for an 08 Wrangler and the wires for a 97-99 Wrangler. All from Rock Auto. It all went together fine.
